Best of II – Visitor’s Choice

Best of II – Visitor’s Choice

Starting on December 10, 2025, the Gunzenhauser Museum will present a new and equally personal view of its collection: visitors’ favorite works will be paired with five artistic interventions that respond directly to the collection. As part of the presentation of favorite paintings, the exhibition Best of II – Visitor’s Choice will also be extended until February 22, 2026.

At the Museum Gunzenhauser, an unusual participatory exhibition format will take place in the autumn of the European Capital of Culture year.
Visitors themselves are invited to redefine the Museum Gunzenhauser and create a shared space for discussion and exchange. Two of the rooms will be designed by the museum’s Youth Council. A group of interested Chemnitz residents, artistically active people, and city initiatives will also take part. Through this participatory process, the museum aims to open up further and learn from the many voices that can inspire its future work.

In addition, an interactive, playfully designed floor invites guests to explore various artists from the Gunzenhauser Collection and their techniques — and to get creative themselves. From collage techniques and the connection between music and art, to the tactile experience of artworks, painting as a physical act, or combining text and painting — there’s something for everyone.

Starting in Dezember 2025, the museum’s third floor will open to showcase a selection of visitors’ favorite works. This presentation offers a very personal perspective on the art and provides another glimpse into the rich and varied collection.
