    Jay Gard. Gabriele

The artist Jay Gard (born 1984), who grew up in Chemnitz, shows works made especially for this exhibition, all of whom make a direct reference to the collection of Dr. Alfred Gunzenhauser. To this end, the artist selected Gabriele Münter’s Herbstliches Blumenstillleben (c. 1912) and used this as the basis for his colour wheels, geometric colour objects, and sculptures. He engages in this way with questions about colour systems and how they are perceived.

With 14–18 WAR WAS. Shooting with Light, one of the most unusual exhibition projects in Chemnitz in recent years reaches an interim conclusion. Since August 2014 a photograph reflecting the events of the period 1914 to 1918 with comprehensive comments has been presented every month. The photographs show what the population of Chemnitz could experience of the war in each respective month, from apparently mundane everyday occurrences in the city to horror at the front. ...
