Art comes from making! Applied art connects this making with all our lives, brings beauty into our everyday lives, shapes relationships and living spaces. For 146 years, it has been created in the workshops of the Faculty of Applied Arts Schneeberg, whose holdings are combined here with those of the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz. The exhibition Schneeberger Geflecht showcases (co-)making. Students of the Faculty of Applied Arts Schneeberg are designing a participatory workroom exhibition based on the workshop principle of the university.
Schneeberger Geflecht is to be understood not only as the title of the exhibition, but also as a call to action. Natural materials as well as pre- and post-consumer waste are braided, woven, sewn and spun. Stools, chairs, bags, clothes and much more will be created. The workroom invites visitors to handcraft and do-it-themselves and actively encourages creativity and cultural participation.
The exhibition is a cooperation between the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz and the University of Applied Sciences Zwickau, Faculty of Applied Arts Schneeberg.
