Utopia
The Right to Hope
The exhibition Utopia. The Right to Hope brings together artistic positions that, in the face of global crises, develop concrete visions for a more just and sustainable way of living. Alongside a critical examination of utopia itself — with its promise of happiness as well as its totalitarian implications — the focus of Utopia is on projects that aim to create change on a smaller, tangible scale. The works and objects propose new models for a fairer and more sustainable coexistence. Art in particular can make pioneering contributions to utopian visions of the future. Since the modern era, it has accompanied social processes critically through a wide range of aesthetic and conceptual approaches. This critical stance has always made art a space for utopian thinking.
Utopia. The Right to Hope is a production of the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg in cooperation with the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz.
