Kuratorenführung : Tu BiShvat

On the occasion of the celebrations marking 1700 years of Jewish life in Germany and the 30th Jewish Culture Days in Chemnitz, the exhibition not only takes a look at important Jewish collectors, artists and art patrons, but also focuses on their donated works of art and relationships with each other.

In order to elucidate the future process of working through and critically appraising the collection, and to draw attention to the diversity and heterogeneity of Jewish life today, three contemporary views are juxtaposed with the historical network. The artists Eldar Farber, Michal Fuchs and Shira Wachsmann dedicate themselves to their Jewish identity from different perspectives and by investigating divergent issues. In its presentation of the artistic response to terms like “origin”, “home(land)” and “exile”, the exhibition fosters dialogue about getting along with each other in future. This raising of awareness of the past and the present can provide new impetus for the future in a tolerant society.
