The Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz are presenting a special exhibition in Chemnitz, European Capital of Culture 2025, featuring works by Edvard Munch (1863–1944) that focus on the feeling of fear. The Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz have a significant collection of prints and a painting by Edvard Munch, which will be expanded for the exhibition thanks to loans from international and national institutions and private collections. At the same time, contemporary works by artists such as Marina Abramović, Monica Bonvicini, Irene Bösch, Michael Morgner, Osmar Osten, Neo Rauch, Paula Rego, and others will be on display in dialogue with Munch’s works. Starting on June 10, 2025, the Pavilion of Fear will open as a mobile meeting place offering cultural events in the urban space.
