Chemnitzer Hitzeinseln: Perspektiven aus Kunst und Realität

Im Sommer ist die drückende Wärme durch Hitzeinseln besonders spürbar. Dies sind Bereiche in der Stadt, die sich vor allen aufgrund der Flächenversiegelung und geringer Verschattung besonders aufheizen und nur langsam abkühlen. Die Künstlerin Anna Lorenzana greift das Thema „Hitzeinseln“ im Zuge der Ausstellung NEW ECOLOGIES Gegenwarten II auf und entwickelte hierzu eine grafische Arbeit auf einer Litfaßsäule, um auf solche Orte in der Stadt aufmerksam zu machen. Hierfür hat sie Kartenmaterial der Firma ThINK GmbH genutzt, das im Juli 2023 im Rahmen eines Projektes mit dem Umweltamt und dem sächsischen Landesamt für Umwelt, Landwirtschaft und Geologie, mittels Satellitendaten erzeugt wurde. Bürgerinnen und Bürger sind in einer offenen Gesprächsrunde herzlich eingeladen, um die Thematik mit der Künstlerin und Vertreter:innen des Umweltamtes und der ThiNK GmbH aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven zu beleuchten und Fragen zu klären.

Accessibility

For barrier-free access, a visitor guidance system with an inclusive floor guidance system, orientation boards with Braille and pyramid writing and an elevator at ground level to all exhibition floors are available at Theaterplatz. Further information can be found at inclusion and accessibility.

Museum Gunzenhauser

The Museum Gunzenhauser houses the collection of the Munich gallery owner Dr. Alfred Gunzenhauser and holds more than 3,000 works by 270 artists, including works of classic modern art and from the second half of the 20th century. The owner is the Gunzenhauser Foundation.

Schloßbergmuseum

The Museum of History of the City of Chemnitz is housed in one of the most beautiful and best-preserved monastery sites in Saxony. Around 1135, Emperor Lothar ordered to build a Benedictine monastery on a ridge above the Chemnitz River, which would exist until the age of Reformation.

Rabenstein Castle

Rabenstein Castle is located in the Rabenstein district of Chemnitz and forms part of the Schloßbergmuseum. It was built in the second half of the 12th century during the settlement of the foothills of the Erzgebirge mountains. The frequently used nickname »Saxony’s smallest castle« is somewhat misleading in that the buildings still standing today make up only the heart of a formerly much larger complex.

Henry van de Velde Museum

Villa Esche was planned by the Belgian architect and designer Henry van de Velde in 1902 as a family home for the Chemnitz-based textile manufacturer Herbert Esche. Henry van de Velde (1863–1957) was one of the most highly-regarded figures in European art in the early 20th century.
