Brita Lotz joins the Freunde der Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz

Since the summer of 2025, Brita Lotz has been serving as cultural manager for the association Die Freunde der Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz e.V. With her diverse professional experience and passion for museum and collection work, she is dedicated to the association’s further development and new projects. She places particular emphasis on open and trusting collaboration with all stakeholders.

Born in Wernigerode, Brita Lotz has lived in Saxony since her university studies. She initially pursued a technical career: as a graduate engineer in foundry technology, she worked successfully for more than twenty years as a project manager in a prototype foundry.

In 2020, a volunteer position opened up a new professional focus for her: working with textiles, collections, and museum contexts. The experience she gained there led to freelance projects in collection management and cataloging, including at the Braunsdorf Historical Demonstration Weaving Mill and the German Damask and Terry Cloth Museum in Großschönau. In addition, she worked at a museum for two years, further deepening her knowledge.

Today, Brita Lotz combines technical expertise with cultural interest and organizational skills. She will bring new ideas to the association’s work, expand networks, and help shape the art and cultural landscape in Chemnitz.

Brita Lotz is available for in-person consultations on Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the office located at Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße 7. She can also be reached at any time using the association’s standard contact information.
