Audience Development project on visitors and non-visitors concluded

Audience Development

The joint project on visitor research by the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG), the Saxony-Anhalt Cultural Foundation and the Friedenstein Castle Foundation Gotha has been successfully completed. Between 2020 and 2022, almost 2,500 visitors and over 250 non-visitors were surveyed for the project. The results are now available for the participating houses of the four institutions.

An important goal of the project was to collect comparable results on the structure, motivation and satisfaction of the audience as well as on social and cultural milieus and educational backgrounds. Like the project partners, the SPSG intends to use these findings to develop customised offers in the future in order to better fulfil its own educational mandate and attract new audiences. The results for the art collections will be presented to the public at a later date.

The research was funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) as part of the continuation of the Audience Development Project of the Conference of National Cultural Institutions (KNK).
