The Schloßbergmuseum is responding to increasing demand: From July 1, 2025, new opening hours will apply on Wednesdays. In future, the museum will be open Tuesdays to Sundays from 11 am to 6 pm.
The Chemnitz Museum of City History is housed in one of the most beautiful and best-preserved monastery complexes in Saxony. In the reconstructed historic monastery rooms on the first floor, the Gothic Sculpture in Saxony exhibition presents the most important collections of sacred art in the Free State, which will be supplemented by permanent loans from the Zwickau Art Collections until 2028. The museum also presents annual special exhibitions on cultural and art-historical themes – mainly from its own collection. The current exhibition The New City. Chemnitz as Karl Marx City.
