Chemnitz Open Space will end its program at the end of 2025
Regular operations at Chemnitz Open Space must be discontinued at the end of 2025 for financial reasons. The Chemnitz Art Collections would like to thank its cooperation partners, funding providers, and supporters, without whom Chemnitz Open Space would not have been possible.
In 2023, there was still no place in downtown Chemnitz where topics such as democratic education, social networking, and cultural participation could be discussed. The Chemnitz Art Collections reopened Chemnitz Open Space for this purpose, bringing together various artists and cultural creators with social actors. The space promoted community, democracy, and participation through various educational formats and offerings.
The Chemnitz Open Space was the framework, the container in which initiatives and associations in Chemnitz could realize their own democratic and cultural projects in the city center that had not received sufficient visibility and publicity. It was intended to be a place for everyone, with great diversity and tolerance. The goal of the Chemnitz Open Space was to enable everyone to have an extraordinary but uncomplicated visit and to actively participate.
