Children Art Creativitiy
Art from the educational work of the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz meets historical children’s paintings
Opening on the Museum Night on 4 May 2024
Children often use their imagination to create colourful, magical pictures. This is fun and shows how they see life. They simply start painting without thinking about whether someone likes it or not. Adults are often the first to judge them. Famous artists such as Gabriele Münter, Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky were also inspired and fascinated by children’s paintings. Pictures of children can also show us what it is like to be a child at a certain time and how they look at the world in their own way.
At the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, children and young people can be creative and try out different techniques. This results in many beautiful works of art. Some of them can be seen in this small exhibition. We are also showing a few selected pictures by children from the 1920s. We are taking a look back at a time when art lessons changed a lot.
