Typical me? Define yourself.
A body-orientated empowerment workshop for BlackIndigenousPeopleofColor (BIPoC)*
with Pasquale Virginie Rotter

In this programme, we look at ourselves with loving eyes. We are people who experience racism in Germany. Racism is characterised by looks that turn us into “the others”. It seeks to define us and often makes us feel alien. For four hours, we take time for ourselves. We look at our faces and turn to our bodies. We find everyday images and memories in them. We learn how racism affects our nervous system and our self-image. We differentiate between what we see in ourselves and what others see in us and decide what belongs to us. We do this with bodywork (breathing exercises, movement and body awareness), biographical exercises and conversations. Finally, we create our own self-image, the way we want to see ourselves.

No previous knowledge is required for this programme. It takes place in German spoken language. If required, we can organise whispered translations in the workshop. If you have any questions or are unsure whether the programme is accessible to you, simply write to us or give us a call.
