Remembering Johann Belz

Klapperbrunnen fountain, Don Quixote, victorious working class: the sculptor Johann Belz inscribed himself into the cityscape of Karl-Marx-Stadt/Chemnitz in many different ways through his works. Those works, which he carried out preferably in metal, include individual sculptures, reliefs and fountains that to this very day co-shape the appearance of numerous spaces and ensembles in the city. They also continue to enjoy the approval both of the citizens and of visitors. Parallel to the travelling exhibition “70 Jahre ‘Kunst am Bau’”, which will be shown at the Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz, the Schloßbergmuseum would like to remember this versatile and popular artist in a Kabinett exhibition that will include sculptures as well as studies and designs that are privately owned and have not yet been shown in public.
