Wir laden Sie herzlich zur Präsentation des umfangreichen Künstlerbuches My Last Will am Sonntag, 17. September 2023 um 14:30 Uhr in die Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz ein.

Öffentliche Präsentation des Künstlerbuches My Last Will als dialogische Lesung.
Ort: Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz, in der Ausstellung

Was bleibt? Was ist wichtig im Leben? Was soll bleiben? Mit dieser existentiellen Fragestellung wurden über 30 Künstler eingeladen, einen Beitrag für eine ungewöhnliche Ausstellung in den Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz zu schaffen. Parallel zur Ausstellung Mein letzter Wille entstand ein Künstlerbuch, in dem eigens entwickelte Text-, Collage- und Bildbeiträge der beteiligten Künstler:innen zusammengefasst sind.

Gemeinsam mit den Schauspieler:innen Lisanne Hirzel und Clemens Kersten, beide am Theater Chemnitz, stellt das Kuratorenduo M+M ausgewählte Beiträge aus dem Buch vor. Ähnlich wie bei einem Notar zur Testamentseröffnung müssen hierbei zunächst die noch geschlossenen Buchbögen aufgeschnitten werden, um die Geheimnisse der »Letzten Willens« zu lüften.

Ab 14 Uhr ist vorab ein gemeinsamer, kurzer Besuch durch die Ausstellung mit Dr. Sabine Maria Schmidt (Kuratorin der Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz) möglich.

Accessibility

For barrier-free access, a visitor guidance system with an inclusive floor guidance system, orientation boards with Braille and pyramid writing and an elevator at ground level to all exhibition floors are available at Theaterplatz. Further information can be found at inclusion and accessibility.

Museum Gunzenhauser

The Museum Gunzenhauser houses the collection of the Munich gallery owner Dr. Alfred Gunzenhauser and holds more than 3,000 works by 270 artists, including works of classic modern art and from the second half of the 20th century. The owner is the Gunzenhauser Foundation.

Schloßbergmuseum

The Museum of History of the City of Chemnitz is housed in one of the most beautiful and best-preserved monastery sites in Saxony. Around 1135, Emperor Lothar ordered to build a Benedictine monastery on a ridge above the Chemnitz River, which would exist until the age of Reformation.

Rabenstein Castle

Rabenstein Castle is located in the Rabenstein district of Chemnitz and forms part of the Schloßbergmuseum. It was built in the second half of the 12th century during the settlement of the foothills of the Erzgebirge mountains. The frequently used nickname »Saxony’s smallest castle« is somewhat misleading in that the buildings still standing today make up only the heart of a formerly much larger complex.

Henry van de Velde Museum

Villa Esche was planned by the Belgian architect and designer Henry van de Velde in 1902 as a family home for the Chemnitz-based textile manufacturer Herbert Esche. Henry van de Velde (1863–1957) was one of the most highly-regarded figures in European art in the early 20th century.

Together with the neighboring residential mill, where Karl Schmidt-Rottluff spent his childhood, the ensemble will become another hotspot of Expressionism in Chemnitz.
