Its four museums – the Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz with the Carlfriedrich Claus Archive, the Museum Gunzenhauser, the Schloßbergmuseum and the Henry van de Velde Museum – make a significant contribution to the cultural wealth of the European Capital of Culture 2025 and the entire Free State of Saxony with their collections and the exhibition, mediation and event programme.
The traineeship offers the opportunity to get to know the work in all areas of the museum.
ACTIVITY:
The field of activity includes the expansion of knowledge in all areas of museum work, in particular through:
Assisting in the conceptual, administrative and practical preparation of the museum’s future exhibitions,
collaboration on catalogues,
independently preparing and conducting public lectures and guided tours,
collaboration in art education,
dealing with general enquiries,
maintenance of the museum database,
cooperation with the restoration workshop.
YOU HAVE:
completed academic university studies in art history (master’s degree or doctorate),
very good knowledge in the field of 19th-21st century art, especially contemporary art,
enjoyment of museum education work,
very good verbal and written communication skills,
very good knowledge of English and German, further foreign language skills desirable,
willingness to cooperate and ability to work under pressure, ability to work in a team, strong communication skills and organisational talent,
high motivation and initiative, interest in museum work.
